Adding Multiple Files into a Course


    Instead of uploading files from your computer one at a time into a Content item, multiple files can be uploaded simultaneously saving you time while increasing productivity. Note: Java must be installed on your computer in order to upload multiple files into your course.

    Scenario

    There are five sets of practice problems that need to be uploaded into a course for students to review prior to the next test.

    Step 1

    Under the Control Panel, click on Files and then click on the Course ID link.

    The Files:... page will display. Click on the Create Folder button.

    Enter the Folder Name (e.g. Chapter 7 Practice Problems) and click Submit. The new folder will display at the top of the page.

    Click on the folder name. The folder page displays. Next, place your mouse pointer over the Upload button and select Upload Files.

    If the Upload Single File page displays, click on the Multiple Files link on the right hand corner of the page.

    On the Upload Multiple Files and Folders page, click on the Browse button.

    An Open dialog box will display. Select all the files to upload into the course by clicking on one file and then hold the Ctrl key down and select the remaining files. Click the Open button.

    The files will populate the table. Remove any unwanted files by clicking on any of the "X" icons under the Remove column. Click Submit.

    The files will upload and display inside the folder you created.

    Next, access a content area in your course. Place your mouse pointer over Build Content and select Item.

    On the Create Item page, enter a Name (e.g. Chapter 7 Practice Problems), assignment information in the Content Editor, and then click on the Browse Course button.

    The Browse Course page will display. Place a check mark next to the folder you created in Step 3 and then click Submit at the bottom of the page.

    The Create Item page displays again. Notice in Section 2. Attachments the file folder is now attached to the item. Click Submit at the bottom of the page.

    The Content Item along with a link to the Practice Problems now displays in the content folder.

    When a user clicks on the Content Item link, all the files will display. Users can then click on any of the files in any order.
